Below you will find a list of tentative events currently scheduled for the 2009 Capitol Christmas Tree Project. More events will be added once they are scheduled.

 

July

• Superintendent of the Capitol Grounds arrives to the White Mountains to select the 2009 Capitol Christmas Tree.

 

October

• Ornament Deadline, October 5, 2009.  Ornaments should be shipped to: Apache-Sitgreaves National Forests, Attention: CCT 2009 Ornament Coordinator, 30 S. Chiricahua Dr., Springerville AZ 85938.  Ornament creators are encouraged to call Sharon Fisher at 928 333-4941 or Deb Bumpus at 928 333-6302 before shipping their ornaments.

 

• Student drawing – Student who will light the 2009 Capitol Christmas Tree in December with the Speaker of the House will be announced.   

 

November

• Tree Cutting Ceremony – Cutting, loading, binding, covering and preparing tree for travel.

 

• State and Cross Country Tour

 

• Tree Delivered to US Capitol

 

December

• Tree Lighting Ceremony – An evening Arizona will shine in DC on December 8.
