Companion Trees

Companion TreeIn addition to the 85-foot blue spruce coming from Arizona, 80 smaller “companion trees” will be delivered to the United States Capitol complex. These trees, ranging in height from 6-feet to as tall as 30-feet, represent a variety of species found throughout the Grand Canyon State. An excellent example of Arizona’s bio-diversity, the companion trees come from all parts of the state including national forests, private and tribal lands.

The companion trees will be displayed in several federal government sites such as the Arizona Congressional Delegation offices, United States Senate and House of Representative offices. Trees will be delivered in late November and will also be featured at the Department of Agriculture, Department of the Interior and even the Senate Dining Room.

The Capitol Christmas 2009 companion trees will be decorated with handcrafted ornaments made by Arizonans.
